We traveled to Napa, California and spent a few days exploring the iconic wine country to give you the complete Extra Holidays vacay guide. Here are some recommendations for where to stay, what to do, what to eat, and of course what to drink on your next Napa getaway. Where to Stay: Vino Bello Resort Located only 10 minutes from downtown Napa and surrounded by rolling vineyards, this is the perfect resort for a relaxing getaway. Expect spacious, Tuscan-inspired condo accommodations. We stayed in a One Bedroom Suite were amazed by the level of detail and luxury. Each reservation even gets a bottle of wine from the resort's vineyard upon check-in! The room also featured a queen sofa bed, washer/dryer, gas fireplace, an oversized walk-in shower, whirlpool tub, and private balcony. As a Vino Bello Resort guest you'll have access to amenities like on-site wine-tasting rooms, restaurants, a bowling alley, the iconic Grape Crusher statue, an estate wine cave, a relaxing spa, hiking trails through the resort vineyard, and so much more. Pro Tip: Enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony as you watch the fog roll in over vineyards. What to Do: Rent an e-bike from Fat Tire Bike Rentals If you want a unique and personalized way to experience Napa Valley, we 100% recommend renting an electric bike from Fat Tire Bike Rentals in downtown Napa, a family-owned small business. An e-bike is motorized with pedal assist, meaning you can glide past the vineyards without getting tired, allowing you to go further and faster than on a normal bike.Pro Tip: Bike the Napa Valley Vine Trail and stop by a winery for a peaceful lunch and wine tasting. If you love the wine, don't think twice about buying a bottle because these bikes have a basket that can store a full bottle of wine! Bottle & Blanket at Laird Family Estate A perfect and intimate way to experience one of the more than 450 vineyards in Napa Valley is the Bottle & Blanket option at Laird Family Estate. Once you purchase a bottle of wine, grab a picnic blanket and sprawl out on their lush lawn surrounded by vineyards. Good wine, good company, and good views is what you'll be in for at this sweet and friendly, family-owned estate. Cosentino Winery If you're looking to sip and savor delectable wines at an affordable price, visit Cosentino Winery. We enjoyed “The Flight” for $30/per person, tried two red wines and two white wines, and even learned how to properly identify aromas from our knowledgeable server, George. Pro Tip: Travel + Leisure Wine Club members get FREE wine tastings at Cosentino as well as two other wineries in Napa Valley. We used our membership for the tasting and were treated like VIP's! Explore Downtown Napa We loved exploring all the locally owned shops and boutiques that line downtown Napa. The locals are extremely welcoming, and we found many unique shops while strolling around. This is yet another relaxing way to spend your time in Napa! Plus, you can even find funky and trendy tasting rooms around downtown. Pro Tip: Stop at the Napa Valley Visitors Center for more tips on things to do and check out their awesome souvenirs! Where to Eat: Ristorante Allegria Try this Italian influenced restaurant set in a historical repurposed bank, originally built in 1916. Ristorante Allegria is a great dining choice for delicious wine, yummy food, and personable service. Our server was extremely accommodating as we contemplated our dining decisions and even helped us pair wines based on our preferences and entrees selections. Pro Tip: Check out “The Vault” for a unique dining experience or enjoy the patio dining, like we did, for a more casual experience. Angèle Restaurant Appreciate the simple yet delicious cuisine and the warm hospitality of the French countryside when you dine at Angèle Restaurant along the Napa River. This is an extremely popular spot, so be sure to make a reservation beforehand! Oakville Grocery As the oldest continually operating grocery store in California founded in 1881, Oakville Grocery is a must-do for your trip to Napa Valley! Featuring artisan goods from jams to spices, a robust wine collection, and deli-style food, this quaint store feels like a warm hug. We had a picnic lunch on their grounds but the to-go option works, too.Pro Tip: Looking for easy in-suite meal options? Plan to pick up salads, sandwiches, fruit, and more from Oakville Grocery. It's easy to story these items in your full-sized refrigerator. Sky & Vine Rooftop Bar This spot is for all the sunset-lovers. Sky & Vine Rooftop Bar offers a unique perspective of Napa Valley, which is especially pretty during golden hour. Be ready to share small plates, specialty drinks, and stunning views.Pro Tip: Seating is first-come, first-served, so plan to arrive at least a half hour before sunset. Boon Fly Café Did someone say brunch? We did. We love making breakfast in our condo's full kitchen, but this brunch at Boon Fly Café was a nice change of pace. This quaint red barn had massive portions so go hungry.Pro Tip: The Boon Fly donuts are made fresh to order! Our time in the Napa Valley was EXTRA special and we know yours will be too. This is the perfect destination for a girl's getaway, a romantic escape, and especially for the wine enthusiast. We left with more knowledge about wine than ever before, and after a good glass of red, we felt like personal sommelier's to our friends.
